Teamviewer Won T Open Mac

Can’t Boot after uninstalling Teamviewer on Mac OS Catalina

12/4/2019

Ran into this problem on a few macs. The scenario is that you've uninstalled teamviewer on macOS catalina and now your mac won't boot. Instead it give you an error that reads: 'Unrecoverable Error. SecurityAgent was unable to create requested mechanism TeamViewerAuthPlugin:Start.
Basically it's a file that the OS is looking for to boot and it can't find it. Solution below:

UPDATE! 3/01/20
The simplest fix:
AuthDB Removal:
  • Start into macOS Recovery by holding down Cmd-R when booting before the chime until the apple logo.
  • Open Disk Utility -- found in the upper utility menu option.
  • Check the left source list for the name of your disk. For Macs running Catalina it is the Disk that does not end in '- Data'. It's usually 'Macintosh HD.'
  • Click to select the disk in the sidebar.
  • Click the 'Mount' button in the upper right. If you see the word 'unmount' skip this step.
  • Quit Disk Utility.
  • From the top menu bar click Utilities > Terminal.
  • Enter the command and hit return: rm '/Volumes/<your disk>/var/db/auth.db'
    • NOTE** There is a space after rm
    • NOTE** Replace <your disk> with the name of your hard disk from the earlier step. Eg. rm '/Volumes/Macintosh HD/var/db/auth.db'
    • NOTE** once you enter the command hit return to submit the command.
    • NOTE** if the terminal returns down waiting for a new command, it's successful.
  • Restart.
  • If you receive an error review the steps carefully again, or call us for assistance.

OLD FIX - Replace the Plugin.
The Fix Option 1 - Target Disk Mode:
  • Requires a Thunderbolt cable to connect two macs together.
  • Get another mac that is not the broken one, duh.
  • Download the file you need to replace here.
  • Unzip the file.
  • Boot the broken mac to target disk mode by holding the T key during boot, until you see the thunderbolt Icon on the screen.
  • Connect both macs together via thunderbolt, the broken mac's hard drive will show up as an external HD.
  • In the Finder, from the root of the broken mac's hard drive navigate to: /Library/Security/SecurityAgentPlugins/
  • Paste in the file you downloaded above.
  • Restart the broken mac.
  • Done. Hooray.

The Fix Option 2 - USB Thumb Stick & Terminal Command:
  • Download the file you need to replace here.
  • Unzip the file.
  • Copy the file to a USB Thumb Drive.
  • Name the USB drive: fixit
  • Connect the USB to your broken mac.
  • Boot your broken Mac while holding Command+R until you see the Apple logo.
  • In the upper menu click utilities, then select terminal.
  • Type the following command and hit return: ls /Volumes/
  • This command lists the attached volumes. Make a note of the drive name for the internal hard drive.
  • Enter the terminal command and hit return: cp -r /Volumes/fixit/TeamViewerAuthPlugin.bundle /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Library/Security/SecurityAgentPlugins/
NOTE ** YOU MAY NEED TO REPLACE THE NAME OF 'MACINTOSH HD' IF YOUR HARD DRIVE NAME DIFFERS. ALSO, IF THERE ARE SPACES IN YOUR HARD DRIVE NAME, THE SPACE IS REPRESENTED AS A ' ' A BACKSLASH WITH A SPACE. EG. 'MY HARD DRIVE' IT WOULD BE REPRESENTED IN THE TERMINAL COMMAND AS 'MY HARD DRIVE'
  • Click the apple in the upper left and select restart.
  • Done. Hoory.

You're welcome.

I tried your Option 2. After going to the terminal and entering Is /Volumes/ it just said file not found which seemed odd. So I entered the cp -r /Volumes/fixit/TeamViewerAuthPlugin.bundle /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Library/Security/SecurityAgentPlugins/ and restarted but got the same error. I'm getting 'the file I need' on another mac, saving it to a thumb drive, then using an adapter to connect it to the mini usb on my broken computer. Could this be a problem. Frustrated and perplexed.

Thank you !! It helped me

Issue NO1:-I can not full screen on second monitor in mac pro. The skins goes half down or half up of second screen. Also if i remove thunderbolt cable, VDJ opens to nowhere (if u understand). You have to check if the second screen is connected and then put it there. Forum: General Discussion. Topic: Using vdj on second lcd thats not main. If I undrestood you correctly you want to just have virtual dj main screen on you whole secondary monitor, this is possible but you need to use skin that is full hd and DON'T use the fullscreen option, just move the VDJ window to the second monitor so it will. When in full screen, a few of them go beyond the screen from top to bottom but doesn't fill the screen from left to right. The others that do fill the screen are blurry and visually strenuous. The resolutions are 1440x900 for macs. I use my laptop screen to have itunes and also to look through my passport external. I can drag and drop songs from my laptop screen over to my monitor screen with virtual dj on it. This is also what I did before I got the Mac with my PC. When I went in the search bar of virtual dj. Virtual dj for mac free. Virtual DJ Software, MP3 and Video mix software. VirtualDJ provides instant BPM beat matching, synchronized sampler, scratch, automatic seamless loops.

Hey,
I have this message
How do I know it is ok?
I've tried to restart it but I still have the error :( I've tried so many times to type the code.

2/15/2020 07:14:50 pm

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was pulling my hair out, but now all is well. I can’t thank you enough for the fix using the Terminal command.

2/17/2020 02:22:12 pm

Thanx so much! It worked for another lost file mkauthplugin:prelogin. My son unplugged a flight simulator joy stick?? and the message came up!

I’ve tried command R and many other key combinations I’ve seen in online discussion groups. Nothing I do gets rid of the black screen and unrecoverable error message. I would love to try your solution but I can’t get into recovery mode. Any thoughts?

worked like a charm right away. Kudos to you, brothers and/or sisters :)
PS: all this after a long session with Apple Support involving a 2nd-line 'senior advisor' who could only give me the standard incompetency-proving solution of 'wipe&reinstall macOS'.. pff.

I’ve verified name of my HD is the same: Macintosh HD.

TeamViewer Host is used for 24/7 access to remote computers, which makes it an ideal solution for uses such as remote monitoring, server maintenance, or connecting to a PC or Mac in the office or at home. Install TeamViewer Host on an unlimited number of computers and devices. As a licensed user, you have access to them all! Aug 19, 2019  It’s frustrating when a web page won’t load. If your Mac goes to sleep unexpectedly

Aug 19, 2019 It’s frustrating when a web page won’t load. Your connection, software, or the website could be causing the problem. Here are a few ways to troubleshoot the issue and access a website, even if it’s down. A blue & white window will open with the Teamviewer application in it (See Teamviewer Application image). Double click on the teamviewer application. If a window opens that alerts you to the fact that you are opening a file downloaded from the internet choose 'Open' (See Teamviewer Alert image). Many users reported that they can't use it anymore after upgrading systems to Windows 10. There is no connection to partner. The session limit of Teamviewer is reached. The Teamviewer can’t be opened in Windows. The Teamviewer has stopped working suddenly. The Teamviewer can’t be connected to another computer.

Make sure that Energy Saver is set up the way you want: choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then click Energy Saver. Adjust one or more of the following controls to affect when your Mac goes to sleep. Some of these controls might not be available on your Mac.

  • 'Turn display off after' slider
  • 'Display sleep' slider
  • 'Computer sleep' slider
If a slider is set to 'Never,' sleep is disabled for that feature.
  • Schedule button

Make sure that you aren't putting your Mac to sleep accidentally:

  • Pressing the power button can put your Mac to sleep.
  • Moving your mouse pointer to a hot corner can put your Mac to sleep, depending on your Mission Control settings. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Mission Control. Click the Hot Corners button, then see if any of the corners are set to 'Put Display to Sleep.'
  • Using magnets near your Mac notebook can put your Mac to sleep.

If your Mac doesn't go to sleep when you expect

Check your Energy Saver settings as described above, and be aware that your Mac won't automatically go to sleep unless it's inactive:

  • The same network activities that can wake your Mac can also keep your Mac from sleeping.
  • Any app or other process that's running on your Mac could also be keeping your Mac awake. Check the Energy Saver pane of Activity Monitor to identify apps that need your Mac to be awake. If 'Yes' appears in the Preventing Sleep column for an app, your Mac won't automatically sleep while the app is running. Other apps prevent sleep only when doing certain things, such playing music or video, printing, or downloading files.

If you started from macOS Recovery on a Mac notebook, automatic sleep is disabled as long as the Mac is using AC power.

If your Mac wakes unexpectedly

Teamviewer Not Opening Mac

Your Mac might wake for these activities:

Teamviewer Won't Start

  • Network activity that uses the Wake on Demand feature. Examples of network activity include iTunes sharing, photo sharing, printer sharing, file sharing, and using Back to My Mac.*
  • Enhanced notifications from FaceTime, Messages, and other apps and services.
  • Bluetooth activity. To prevent Bluetooth devices from waking your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Bluetooth. Click the Advanced Button, then deselect 'Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer.'

If you have a MacBook Pro (2016 or later) or MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, 2017), note that these models are designed to start up when you open their lids or connect them to power.

*As of July 1, 2019, Back to My Mac service is no longer available.

If your Mac doesn't wake when you expect

Your Mac might pause a few seconds before it wakes up. If it doesn't seem to wake at all, check for these possibilities:

  • Your screen brightness might be turned down.
  • If you're using an external display, your display might be turned off.
  • Your Mac might be in safe sleep. To wake from safe sleep, press the power button.
  • Check for a sleep indicator light, if applicable, and make sure that your Mac isn't turned off.

If the previous steps don't work

These additional steps may help identify or resolve the issue:

  • Reset the SMC.
  • Reset NVRAM.
  • Disconnect external devices other than your Apple keyboard, mouse, and display. If that resolves the issue, gradually reconnect your devices, testing each time, until you find the device that is interfering with sleep. Then check the documentation that came with the device, or contact the device manufacturer.
  • Start up in Safe Mode to see if the issue is related to non-Apple startup items, login items, or kernel extensions.
  • Try to isolate the issue by using another user account.

If you still see the issue, contact Apple Support.
